Yes — this is the standard 7-day China first-timer route. You cover all three cities without rushing. If you have 10 days, add 1-2 days in each city for a more relaxed pace.
Should I fly or HSR from Xi'an to Shanghai?
Fly for time (2.5h vs 6h), HSR for the experience. The Beijing-Xi'an HSR is famously scenic. For Xi'an-Shanghai, most travelers fly to save a day.
Can I add the Great Wall of China hiking portion?
Yes — Jinshanling section (4-5h one-way hike, wild wall). Replace the Mutianyu day. Bring proper hiking shoes and water.
What is the best time of year for this trip?
