Can I volunteer at the Panda Base?
Yes — the Panda Base runs a half-day volunteer program (¥700) that includes cleaning enclosures, making panda biscuits, and a closer panda encounter. Book at least 2 weeks ahead via the official site or Trip.com.
Is Chengdu hotpot really that spicy?
Yes. The Sichuan mala (numbing-spicy) broth is intense for first-timers. Order a yuanyang pot (half spicy, half mild bone broth) so you can pace yourself. Specify 微辣 (mild) or 鸳鸯 (half-and-half) when ordering.
Should I go to Dujiangyan on the same trip?
If you have a free half-day, yes — the 2,200-year-old irrigation system is a UNESCO site and 30 min from Mount Qingcheng. Combine them on Day 4.
When is the best season for pandas?
Year-round, but September–November is cooler and pandas are more active outside. Avoid July–August — heat pushes pandas indoors to air-conditioned enclosures.
