2-Day Dalian Itinerary
TL;DR — Dalian (大连) is a port city in Liaoning province with Russian-Japanese architecture, beach boardwalks, and seafood. 2 days covers the Donggang (东港), Xinghai Square (星海广场), Bangchui Island (棒槌岛), and Russian Street (俄罗斯风情街) comfortably. Best in June–September for the beach. Skip the winter unless you are a die-hard.

Practical tips
- Avoid weekends at Xinghai Square in summer — locals fill the beach
- Seafood in Dalian is best May–October; off-season it's frozen
- English signage is limited outside hotels and tourist sites
- DiDi (滴滴) works but you may need Alipay or WeChat Pay to set up
- Dalian is very clean for China; tap water is not drinkable
Verdict
2 days in Dalian is enough for the highlights: the coast, the Russian architecture, and a seafood dinner. Add a third day for the Jinshitan (金石滩) geological park (40 km east, ¥180 entry) or the Lüshun (旅顺) historical port (50 km south, ¥120 entry, 1904 Russo-Japanese War site).
Verify with: the Dalian Tourism Bureau (dltour.gov.cn) for current opening hours, and your hotel concierge for transport help. Tide times affect beach walking — check a tide app before heading to Bangchui Island.
