7-Day Sanya Itinerary
A balanced week in Sanya (三亚) mixes beach downtime, rainforest hiking, and one or two cultural stops. Seven days is enough to see Yalong Bay, explore Tianya Haijiao, spend a day at Wuzhizhou Island, drive along the coastal ring road, and still leave time for resort pools. Book hotels and Atlantis water park tickets at least 2-3 weeks ahead in high season (November-March), and verify all ferry and park hours on official sites 48 hours before you go.
Before You Go
- Best season: November to March (20-28°C, dry). Summer (June-August) is hot (30-35°C) and humid, with typhoon risk; check the Hainan Meteorological Bureau (海南气象局) before booking.
- Currency: Alipay and WeChat Pay are accepted nearly everywhere. Carry 200-500 RMB cash for small beach vendors and rural taxis.
- Transport: The Hainan Island High-Speed Rail connects Sanya Phoenix Airport (三亚凤凰机场) to Haikou (海口) in ~1.5 hours (90-130 RMB). Inside Sanya, ride-hailing via Didi (滴滴) is cheap; expect 20-40 RMB for most cross-bay trips.
- SIM/VPN: A China Unicom eSIM with 30-day data is about 90-150 RMB. Google, WhatsApp, and Instagram are blocked without a VPN.
