The NihaoVisit editorial team
NihaoVisit is built by a small in-house group led by Shike, the founder and a former product & tech lead at Tongcheng-Elong's international hotel business unit (5 years building booking flows for foreign visitors to China). Every guide on the site is researched from primary sources — the National Immigration Administration, embassies, 12306.cn, Alipay and WeChat Pay official docs, and on-site verification — then cross-checked against at least two independent references before publication. Each guide is dated on the page with a last-reviewed timestamp, and we publish the verification work in our fact-checking log.
Update — 12 July 2026: NihaoVisit previously published under five named bylines that were editorial role descriptions rather than real people. We retired those bylines on 10 July 2026 as part of an editorial transparency update. Today, our highest-intent guides (visa, payment, HSR, cost, safety, the 10-day itinerary) are personally written and verified by Shike, with the rest attributed to the NihaoVisit Editorial Team as we recruit additional named writers. Shike is the founder of NihaoVisit. He spent 5 years at Tongcheng-Elong (HK:0780) leading product and technology for the international hotel business unit, where he built booking experiences for foreign travelers visiting China. He has been shipping software for 16+ years, holds a master's in computer science from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and now runs Dropleap, an AI Agent consultancy that helps enterprises ship LLM-powered products. He started NihaoVisit because the same booking-pipeline questions he answered inside the OTA kept coming up from his foreign friends planning China trips — and the AI engines they were asking were getting the answers wrong (see our [R-2026-01 audit](/research/2026-ai-engines-china-travel-reality-check/)).

The NihaoVisit editorial team is a small in-house group of China travel researchers and bilingual editors. Every guide on the site is researched from primary sources — official Chinese government portals (NIA, MOFCOM, MFA), embassies, 12306.cn, Alipay official docs, and on-site verification — then cross-checked against at least two independent references before publication. Content is audited quarterly. The team does not accept commissions from tour operators.
