Day 1

Arrival, monastery & altitude pace

Fly in to Ganzi Gesar Airport (opened 2019, on plateau near 4,068 m) or ride the long highway up from Kangding — about 380 km, a full day. This is Ganzi County town at roughly 3,390 m, not the prefecture seat Kangding and not the Daocheng-Yading area far south. Go slow, and let the hillside monastery — founded in 1662 — be the only climb today.

Day 2

Gesar King City & river flats

A gentle day among the Gesar-themed quarter and museum retelling an epic said to run past a million verse lines, then the white-stupa park on the riverbank, and an evening on the Yalong River flats — this water runs about 1,571 km before joining the Yangtze.

Day 3

Nailong mountain & departure

Half a day into the county's high hills for the sacred Nailong peaks, where prayer flags mark the short pilgrim path; back in town, the 1936 Red Army passage is remembered at the local memorial hall before you ride or fly out.
