About 30 km north, the locust tree under which the Ming court staged 18 waves of migration between 1370 and 1417, then Susan's Ming-era prison and Guangsheng Temple, whose 47-m Feihong Pagoda once kept the Zhaocheng Tripitaka now held by the National Library of China.

A 170-km, 2.5-hour drive west to Jixian County, where the Yellow River narrows from about 300 m wide to 20-30 m and drops through the joint Shanxi-Shaanxi 5A scenic area; April's peach flood and October clarity are the classic times, then an evening train from Linfen West.
