Wawu Mountain

Full day on the 2,830-m tabletop in Hongya County by the Ya'an line — cableway, the Lanxi waterfall of about 1,040 m, summit boardwalks. Overnight on the mountain or back in town.

Liujiang Old Town

The Southern Song town of about 1140 — stilt houses along two meeting rivers, the Zeng family compound, riverside teahouses. A slow day on purpose.

Near Liujiang, the gorge road strings pagodas and cliff carvings along the water. Boat or shoreline walking, then back to Meishan.

The 1972 Renshou reservoir spreads about 23.6 sq km with 72 islands — billed as the first sea of western Sichuan. Boat loop and fish lunch.

Leshan Giant Buddha — Neighbor Day

One hour south into neighboring Leshan for the 71-m Buddha carved from 713 over roughly ninety years; walk the nine-turn plank path to its feet.

Emei Golden Summit — Neighbor Day

Mount Emei, with the Leshan Buddha a joint World Heritage site since 1996 — bus and cableway to the 3,079-m Golden Summit and the 48-m Samantabhadra statue of 2006, then back to Meishan for the evening train.
