A full day in Hongya County on the Ya'an border — the 2,830-m tabletop summit, the Lanxi waterfall dropping some 1,040 m, and azaleas or dove trees depending on the month.

Liujiang Old Town & Caoyutan

Founded around 1140 in the Southern Song, Liujiang stacks stilt houses where two rivers meet; the Zeng family compound is the star. Add the gorge-and-pagoda shores of Caoyutan nearby.

Heilongtan

In Renshou County, the 1972 reservoir spreads about 23.6 sq km studded with 72 islands. A boat loop and a lakeside fish lunch fill the day; overnight back in Meishan.

Pengshan — Jiangkou Silver & Pengzu Hill

At Jiangkou, excavations begun in 2017 on the 1646 river battle site have raised over 70,000 objects, gold seal included — a 2017 top-ten archaeology find. Pengzu Hill above town ties in the longevity legends. Northward transport on from Pengshan.
