Nanhu Lake & Lianda Classrooms

A county since 109 BC, Mengzi keeps Nanhu at its center — the lake linked to the crossing-the-bridge noodle story. In 1938 the Southwest Associated University's arts and law faculties taught here for a term, with Zhu Ziqing and Wen Yiduo among the faculty.

Bisezhai — A Metre-Gauge History Day

North of the city, the 1909 station stands on the French-built Yunnan-Vietnam railway, finished end to end in 1910 at 855 km with 465 km in Yunnan. From 1915 the private 600-mm Gejiu line ran here too, reaching Shiping by 1936 — read the two gauges, the warehouses and the water tower.
