Old Quarter & Provincial Museum

The Qing-Republican quarter reopened in 2018; in the afternoon the provincial museum shows a Western Han bronze phoenix lamp unearthed at Hepu in 1971; snack your way down Zhongshan Road after dark.

Nationalities Museum & Min'ge Lake

The drum-shaped 2008 museum keeps hundreds of bronze drums and gallery after gallery of Zhuang and other highland cultures; the folk-song festival waterfront makes an easy evening.

Day 4

Detian Falls — a Chongzuo day

An honestly labelled neighbouring-prefecture day — the falls sit in Daxin County, Chongzuo, some 200 km out, a drive of three and a half hours or so for a three-tiered drop of around 70 m on the Vietnam border.

Yiling Cave & Departure

Half an hour north, the karst cave at Yiling has lit galleries and a constant cool temperature; back in town, a last bowl of rice noodles before the train.
