14-day Nyingchi itinerary at a glance
Use our full Nyingchi travel guide as the base and adapt it to 14 days. Keep the city's three signature attractions as the backbone; fill the rest with neighborhood walks, food markets, and an easy day trip.
Arrival & full rest day
Land at about 2,950 metres and give the body a whole day — short walks, long meals, no uphill plans; Nyingchi's softer air is the classic gateway for slow entry into Tibet travel.

- nyingchi bayi town
Niyang riverside & peach village
A flat morning along the river, and in late March the Gala orchards at the town's edge flower pink against snow peaks; the village fair stalls sell barley flour and yak-cheese snacks.

- nyingchi niyang river
- nyingchi gala peach village
Basum Lake — island monastery
West about 120 km to the 3,480-metre lake, 5A since 2017; cross the plank bridge to the islet monastery, then overnight at the lakeshore so morning mist on the water belongs to you.

- nyingchi tsozong monastery
Lake morning & forest walk
A second, unhurried lake day — the upper forest trail toward the valley beyond the head of the lake climbs gently through old spruce, a good acclimatisation gain without the crowds; return to Bayi by dusk.

- nyingchi basum lake
South to Pai & into the canyon
The farm-road drive to Pai town traces the Yarlung Tsangpo widening into gorge country; enter the scenic zone and overnight in Suosong village facing the 7,782-metre pyramid of Namcha Barwa.
- nyingchi yarlung canyon
Canyon viewpoints & hamlets
Sunrise from the barley terraces first, then a slow day among viewpoint ledges and riverside hamlets of Lhoba and Moinba farming families — peach over courtyard walls in April, barley gold in August.
- nyingchi namcha barwa viewpoint
Canyon morning & back to the highway
One more chance at the peak's morning light — the mountain shows itself barely a third of the time, so a second dawn is worth it — then the drive back north to the river highway and a Bayi night.
- nyingchi namcha barwa viewpoint
Sejila pass & Lulang
Over the 4,720-metre pass for the forest-sea panorama, down to Lulang at about 3,400 metres for stone-pot chicken and boardwalks under spruce fog; overnight in the village.
- nyingchi sejila pass
- nyingchi lulang forest
Lulang meadows day
A no-driving day — pasture boardwalks, the village's wood-and-stone houses, and an afternoon of tea while clouds tear open over the range; horses graze right up to the fences.
- nyingchi lulang forest
East to Bomi — peach valley
Over the rebuilt Tongmai bridge to Bomi at about 2,700 metres; in blossom weeks the wild peaches of the Parlung valley link village to village, and photographers stake out the river bends at dawn.
- nyingchi bomi peach valley
Midui glacier
The glacier falls from a 6,800-metre summit to about 2,400 metres, among the lowest ice tongues on earth, reached on an easy boardwalk through woods; return to Bomi for a second night.
- nyingchi midui glacier
Ranwu Lake — neighbouring Chamdo day
An honest neighbour-prefecture day — east over the pass into Chamdo's Baxoi county, where the 3,850-metre lake spreads blue arms below the Laigu icefalls; shoreline walk, then back west to Lulang or Bayi.
- nyingchi ranwu lake
Nanyi valley of the Lhoba
South of the river, the green valley is home ground of the Lhoba, one of China's smallest ethnic groups; the small culture museum and terraced hamlets welcome respectful visitors, and the medicine-plant markets add colour.
- nyingchi nanyi valley
Departure
A last riverside hour, then the short ride to Mainling airport — one of China's trickiest approaches in, and an easy flight out; drink water all morning for the dry cabin.
- nyingchi niyang river
