Arrive at Putian station on the coastal HSR (roughly 30 minutes from Fuzhou on the 350-km/h line opened in 2023), then walk the Xinghuafu historic lanes and the drum tower first raised in 983; dinner is a bowl of Putian braised noodles.

Meizhou Island - Mazu Homeland

A 20-minute ferry from Wenjia wharf reaches the 14.35-sq-km island where Mazu is recorded as born in 960; the ancestral temple dates its founding to 987, and the Mazu belief customs joined UNESCO's intangible-heritage list in 2009.

Guanghua Temple and Departure

Guanghua Temple was founded in 558 and keeps a five-storey stone pagoda dated 1165 and about 30 m tall; spend the afternoon by Shouxi park's Song-dynasty bridge, then board the HSR home.
