Tiantai — temple & falls

Guoqing temple, founded in 598 in the Sui, anchors the Tiantai valley with its ancient courtyard trees and the Sui pagoda on the hill. Higher up, the Shiliang fall drops beneath a natural stone bridge a few metres across — the "stone beam" that names it.

Day 3

Wenling — Shitang & departure

East to the Shitang peninsula, where stone-roofed fishing houses stack above the harbour and the millennium-sunrise monument marks 1 January 2000, when the first mainland dawn was logged here. The painted houses of Xiaoruo village sit one bay over; evening trains and buses return to Taizhou's stations.
