Fanjingshan Full Day

Book ahead - the UNESCO-listed mountain (since 2018) runs a daily visitor quota with timed entry. The cableway covers about 3.4 km; the Mushroom Stone stands near 10 m, Old Golden Summit sits at 2,493 m, the fissure-split Red Clouds Golden Summit tops out at 2,336 m, and the range's high point reaches 2,572 m. Walkers on the stair route face some 8,000 steps.

Miaowang Fortress Day

About an hour (roughly 50 km) northeast in Songtao Miao Autonomous County, Miaowang City keeps its Ming-era stone walls, cobbled lanes and ridge-top watchtowers above the river gorge. Back in Tongren by evening for departure.
