Day 1

Arrival, Museum & Square

No airport up here — fly to Haikou Meilan, about 230 km and 3 hours by car, or HSR to Sanya and the 80 km mountain expressway in about 1.5 hours. Museum first, evening loop of the square.

Shuiman Rainforest & Li Culture Park

Shuiman township, 24 km and about 40 minutes uphill. The rainforest ticket is about 50 yuan with 2-3 hours of boardwalks; the Li Dong culture park and its ancestral hall stand near the township. Pack a layer for the cool nights.

Day 3

Red Canyon Rafting & Taiping Falls

First launch on the Red Canyon course — about 4 km, roughly 200 yuan with gear and shuttle, an hour and a half on the water. Drifts often pause after heavy rain June to October. Then Taiping waterfall, 6 km from town.

Wuzhishan Rest Day

A deliberate slow day downtown — brocade workshops, a Li-run kitchen for bamboo-tube rice and oil tea, laundry, an early night.

Day 5

Yahu Terraces & Chubao Village

North to Maoyang township, about 40 minutes — Yahu's terraces flood mirror-bright in May and June and turn gold before the October harvest. Chubao village keeps rows of protected boat-shaped thatched houses.

Day 6

River Source & Tea Slopes

The trail toward the Changhua River source — Hainan's second-longest river starts under these peaks — then Shuiman's tea plots, spring leaf from March to April. Roasted high-mountain tea is best bought at origin.

Shuiman Slow Second Day

A gentler second pass — dawn silhouette of the five peaks from the township side when clouds allow, tea-hill lanes, a long lunch. The full summit climb needs guides and two days; it is not a casual walk.

Sanya Coast Neighbor Day

An honest neighbor day, clearly labeled — Sanya is a separate city, 80 km down the expressway, about 1.5 hours. Swim at Dadonghai, eat seafood, and drive back up before dark.

Yanoda Valley Neighbor Day

Another labeled neighbor day — the Yanoda rainforest park sits in Baoting county, about 60 km and 1.5 hours away. Entry plus park shuttle paid separately; zip lines and boardwalks fill a full day. Qixianling's hot springs near Baoting town make the return soak.

Wuzhishan Second Rest Day

Markets in the morning — wild honey, areca and dried herbs on the arcade stalls — then the teahouses. In a town this small, two rest days a week keeps the legs fresh.

Day 11

Brocade & Craft Day

Back to the workshops with more context than on day one — the museum's textile hall first, then the backstrap looms downtown, where a waistband takes a weaver two or three days. Commissions need lead time; small bands sell off the shelf.

Day 12

Aduoling Road & Lookouts

Drive the old G224 over Aduoling for the morning — hairpins past 800 meters with rainforest-canopy lookouts — and come back the same way for the afternoon light. It is a half-day loop, not the departure run; save that for day fourteen.

Farewell Rafting or Falls

One last mountain day — raft again if the water level allows, or take the slow path to Taiping waterfall with a picnic. Pack tonight; the morning goes to tea shops and the drive out.

Tea Morning & Departure

A last morning among the tea shops downtown, then the drive out — 1.5 hours to Sanya or about 3 to Haikou Meilan airport. Book the Sanya HSR or the Haikou flight before you leave the hills; mountain roads slow after rain.
