Arrival, Museum & Square
No airport up here — fly to Haikou Meilan, about 230 km and 3 hours by car, or HSR to Sanya and the 80 km mountain expressway in about 1.5 hours. Start with the ethnographic museum downtown and an evening loop of March Third Square, named for the Li-Miao festival of the third lunar month.

Shuiman Rainforest & Li Culture Park
Shuiman township, 24 km and about 40 minutes uphill, sits several hundred meters above the coast. The rainforest ticket is about 50 yuan with 2-3 hours of boardwalks under the canopy; the Li Dong culture park and its ancestral hall stand near the township.

Red Canyon Rafting & Taiping Falls
First launch of the day on the Red Canyon course — about 4 km, roughly 200 yuan with gear and shuttle, an hour and a half on the water. Drifts often pause after heavy rain June to October. Dry off at Taiping waterfall, 6 km from town.

Yahu Terraces & Chubao Village
North to Maoyang township, about 40 minutes — Yahu's terraces flood mirror-bright in May and June and turn gold before the October harvest. Chubao village nearby keeps rows of protected boat-shaped thatched houses.

River Source & Tea Slopes
Back up to Shuiman for the trail toward the Changhua River source — Hainan's second-longest river starts under these peaks — then the tea plots around the township, picked for spring leaf from March to April. Buy the roasted high-mountain tea where it is grown.

Wuzhishan Rest Day
A deliberate slow day — brocade workshops downtown, bamboo-tube rice and oil tea at a Li-run kitchen, an evening amble around the square. Note the third lunar month festival fills the square with song if your dates land on it.

Aduoling Road & Departure
Leave via the old G224 road over Aduoling, whose hairpins climb past 800 meters with lookout stops over the rainforest canopy — the scenic route toward Sanya, 80 km and about 1.5 hours on the new expressway, or 3 hours back to Haikou.
