Up the S203 to Arxan

The 230-km drive north takes about three and a half hours on the S203. Settle in, admire the little 1937 railway station still handling trains, then soak in the springs that named the town.

Forest park — crater lake, gorge & lava

The park gate sits about 60 km northwest — start by 7 am. The round crater lake lies near 1,330 m, the Halha River squeezes through the 3-km gorge, and the Shitang lava fields close the loop.
