Ride the 70-yuan ticket with the 50-yuan shuttle to the lookout loop over nearly 20,000 cone peaks, then walk or cycle the fields to Nahui Village — fried-rice lanes and Buyi farmhouses, rapeseed January to March.

Malinghe Canyon and Guizhou Dragons

The canyon runs 74.8 km with walls up to 280 m and a string of falls best June to September, entry about 80 yuan. Twenty minutes on, the Dingxiao museum shows Guizhou-dragon fossils about 240 million years old.

Wanfeng Lake and Nanlong

A 40-minute drive south to the 176-sq-km reservoir for a boat cruise, then the short hop to Nanlong, a Buyi village shaded by centuries-old banyan trees above the lake shore.

Nidi — Residence and Stone Forest

About 42 km southwest, an hour's drive, to Nidi town — the childhood home of Republican-era general and premier He Yingqin (1890-1987) sits beside a small karst stone forest; combine them in one rural loop.

The Liu family manor about 4 km south of downtown, seat of warlord-era governor Liu Xianshi, pairs with snack-hopping around the street-center gardens; the airport lies about 10 km out for the evening flight.
