Poetry Mountain & the old town

Jingting Mountain rises just 5 km north of the city — Li Bai, who visited seven times, wrote "never tired of looking at each other" here. Come down for the 1997-rebuilt Xietiao Tower and the free city museum (closed Mondays).

Jixi — Longchuan & the Hu clan

A 5A site about 11 km east of Jixi county town, itself 30 minutes from Xuancheng by the high-speed line opened in 2024. The Hu ancestral hall, first built around 1546, is a national-listed masterwork of Ming wood carving.

Day 3

Zhaji village & paper country

Zhaji, some 40 km west of Jingxian county town, keeps 140-plus Yuan-to-Qing buildings and hosts art students all spring. On the way back, the Xuan paper culture park near the county town shows how the 1,000-year-old paper is made — inscribed by UNESCO in 2009.
