Day 1

Poetry Mountain & the old town

Jingting Mountain, 5 km north of the city, is where Li Bai — a visitor seven times over — wrote "never tired of looking at each other". Finish at the 1997-rebuilt Xietiao Tower on the old town's edge; the free museum (closed Mondays) sits nearby if time allows.

Day 2

Jixi — Longchuan & the Hu clan

The high-speed line opened in 2024 puts Jixi 30 minutes from Xuancheng; Longchuan, a 5A site, is 11 km further east. The Hu ancestral hall, first built around 1546, shows Ming wood carving at national-heritage level. Sleep in Jixi county town.

Day 3

Zhangshan gorge & Taiji Lake village

The gorge runs about 20 km east of the county town through granite walls and pools; go early, the walk takes 3 hours or so. On the way back, Taiji Lake village keeps Ming-era brick-carved gateways and a slow lane network.

Day 4

Xuan paper & Zhaji village

In Jingxian county, the paper park demonstrates the craft UNESCO listed in 2009 — the 1,000-year-old sheet still takes more than 100 hand steps. Then west to Zhaji, 40 km out, with 140-plus Yuan-to-Qing buildings; a village guesthouse beats the evening drive back.

Day 5

Peach Blossom Pool & departure

Li Bai came here in 755 at the invitation of local host Wang Lun, and the farewell poem is now on every school shelf. Walk the pool edge and the Qing-era Wenchang pavilion, then ride back to Xuancheng — about 1 hour — for the evening train.
