About 1 h from Chengdu by rail, then 16 km north to the base opened in 2003; walk the 7 km left gorge or the 6 km right one.

Up to Niubeishan

About 2 h by road to the Yingjing side; transfer to the scenic-area shuttle for the night near the summit — the mountain reopened to visitors in 2022.

Niubeishan Sunrise & Descent

Dawn at 3,660 m for the cloud sea; on clear days Emei's snowline shows on the horizon. Down by noon and back to Ya'an for the night.
