Arrival — town & Jiegu Monastery
Land at Batang Airport (about 3,900 m) and keep it gentle — the ridge-top monastery first, then the museum's story of the 2010 quake, magnitude 7.1, and the rebuilt town.

Gyanak Mani & Batang grassland
The mani mound has stacked carved stones since 1715, with counts past 200 million; herder camps sit at about 4,000 m on the grassland toward the airport.

Princess Wencheng Temple & Leba Gorge
The carving some 20 km south is about 1,300 years old; Leba Gorge's prayer-stone stream makes an unhurried half-day loop — altitude rules the pace here.

Tongtian River & the headwater monument
The upper Yangtze runs some 800 km past the Three-River-Source monument by the old ferry crossing; the surrounding park began its national-park pilot in 2016.

Longbaotan crane reserve
About 70 km west near 4,200 m, black-necked cranes breed from May to September; watch from the marked tracks and let the thin air set the rhythm.

Roughly 3 hours southwest into Nangqian County — honest note, still Yushu Prefecture, but a full valley day in the upper Lancang (Mekong) country; overnight in the county town at about 3,600 m.
