Can I do Jingdezhen as a day trip from Xinyu?

Yes, very easily. The HSR takes 1 hour. Take the 08:00 train, arrive at Jingdezhen North at 09:00, visit the main museums and workshops, return by 18:00. It is a very doable day trip.

The Seven Fairies (七仙女) is one of China's four great folk love stories. According to legend, the seventh daughter of the Queen Mother of the West descended from heaven to bathe in Fairy Lake (仙女湖), where she met and fell in love with a poor but filial farmer named Dong Yong (董永). They married and lived happily until the Queen Mother discovered her daughter's absence and ordered her return to heaven. The story is celebrated annually at the Fairy Festival in Xinyu.
