Mingyue Gorge and the Zengjia Plateau

About 25 km north at Chaotian, one cliff face stacks six layers of routes — river channel, Qin plank road, post path, towpath, old highway and rail line. Rebuilt walkways carry you along the gap. Continue up to the Zengjia plateau at about 1,400 m, where July days average around 23°C, and sleep on the mountain.

Zhaohua and Departure

Down from the plateau and on to the walled town, 30 km south at the river confluence, held as Jiameng more than 2,000 years ago. Jianmen tofu lunch, then the HSR — under two hours to Chengdu.
