Arrival & Taoyangli
The name dates to the Jingde reign of 1004-1007. In Taoyangli, the Ming imperial kiln factory fired for the court from the early Ming until 1911 — over 500 years — and archaeologists reassembled thousands of smashed rejects from its pits. The brick-vaulted museum opened in 2020; the Dragon Pearl Pavilion is the city's emblem.

Ancient Kiln Folk Park
A full morning at the 5A park — Song dragon kiln, Ming gourd kiln, the Qing egg-shaped town kiln re-fired in 2009, and a porcelain-instrument show around noon. Entry about 95 yuan. Keep the afternoon light — a long lunch of cold rice noodles and steamed dumplings, then an early night.

Museum Day & Taoxichuan Evening
The free China Ceramics Museum holds some 50,000 pieces tracing Song qingbai, Yuan blue-and-white, and Qing export ware; the deadpan arhat went viral for a reason. After dark, Taoxichuan — a 1950s state factory reborn in 2016 — runs its bazaar under the old kiln sheds.

Sanbao Valley Whole Day
Sanbao's five-kilometre valley holds hundreds of studios — Li Jianshen opened the first international one in a farmhouse in the 1990s. Wander, then return for the Pottery Workshop's Saturday market at the Sculpture Factory; the group dates to 1985 in Hong Kong. If it is not Saturday, studios stay open anyway.

Yaoli Day in the Fuliang Hills
About 50 km northeast, Yaoli keeps Ming-Qing Huizhou-style streets, the Cheng Clan Hall, and a 1938 New Fourth Army site; nearby Gaoling village gave the world the word kaolin. Buses and shared cars run from downtown — a full day, back by night.

Hutian Kilns & Old Streets
Hutian fed the Song-Yuan craze for qingbai ware; a national protected site since 1982, its workings sit open-air with a folk-kiln museum. Cross the Chang River afterwards for Sanlümiao's Ming-Qing flagstone lanes and riverside teahouses.

Markets & Departure
Spend the last morning around the porcelain markets near People's Square — cups from a few yuan to studio one-offs. Pack the fragile haul in the middle of your bag, then ride out from the North station; Nanchang is about an hour by HSR, Wuyuan 30 minutes.
