The Gansu half — Sertri

Town sits at about 3,300 m; give yourself an easy first day at altitude. Sertri dates to 1748 (entry around CNY 30). The sky-burial site above is active — view from a distance, keep quiet, never photograph.

The Sichuan half — Kirti & the gorge

Kirti's founding is traced to 1413; the gorge trail behind it runs 1-2 hours each way to the White Dragon River's spring caves, gaining about 200 m. Clockwise circuits, ask before photographing inside.

Day 4

Flower Lake day (Ruoergai, Sichuan)

An honest Sichuan day — about 55 km south, Flower Lake spreads boardwalks over high marsh at around 3,450 m; June-July turns the waterline to flowers. Entry plus shuttle runs about CNY 100. Sunset light over the wetland is the payoff.
