798艺术区的建筑大多建于1950年代,采用当时援建的东德包豪斯风格,红砖厂房、锯齿形屋顶、高大天窗,具有独特的工业美学价值。这些建筑被艺术家改造后,既保留了历史痕迹,又融入了当代艺术元素。
区内画廊和艺术机构众多,包括尤伦斯当代艺术中心(UCCA)、佩斯北京、北京东京艺术工程等,经常举办高水平的当代艺术展览。此外还有大量独立艺术家工作室、艺术书店、设计公司等,处处充满创意气息。
798也是文艺青年的聚集地,区内有众多特色咖啡馆、餐厅和设计小店。标志性的大石头雕塑金牛是游客必拍打卡点。艺术区会不定期举办创意市集和文化活动,建议出发前关注官方活动信息。

俯瞰故宫最佳位置,高约45米,万春亭为北京中轴线最高点。门票2元,6:00-21:00。故宫神武门正对面,地铁1号线天安门东站步行15分钟。
