What to expect

The street was rebuilt in a Ming-Qing commercial style and packs Shanxi's signature flavors: knife-cut noodles (dao xiao mian) cut to order, oil-splashed noodles, Taiyuan head-brain soup (nao) for the adventurous, aged Shanxi vinegar from tasting counters, and a full range of late-night grills and desserts.

It is the natural dinner stop after Jinci or the Shanxi Museum — most visitors walk the lane grazing, then settle at a noodle house. Lantern lighting makes it the most photogenic evening street in the city.

How to get there

Central Taiyuan near Yingze Street — metro Line 2 to the closest station then a short walk, or any taxi to Shipin Jie.
