Why visit
For the ethnic diversity — Bai villages around Erhai Lake, Naxi culture in Lijiang, Tibetan monasteries in Shangri-La, Hani rice terraces. For the landscapes — Stone Forest, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Tiger Leaping Gorge. For the climate — Kunming's "Spring City" weather is mild year-round.
Getting there
Kunming Changshui (KMG) is the main hub with international flights. Lijiang Sanyi (LJG), Dali (DLU), and Shangri-La (DIG) have airports too.

In Shangri-La (3,200m) yes. Lijiang (2,400m) and Dali (2,000m) usually fine. Kunming (1,900m) feels sea-level-like.
