南山一棵树观景台位于南岸区南山半山腰，因景区内保存一棵重庆主城区最古老的黄桷树而得名，是重庆城区海拔较高的观景地点之一。观景台建于1997年，经过多次改造升级，如今已成为外地游客体验重庆夜景名片的必到之处。
站在观景台上，视野开阔，渝中半岛全景尽收眼底。长江与嘉陵江在脚下交汇，夜幕降临时，两岸万家灯火次第亮起，高楼大厦的霓虹倒映在江面上，与远处南山的点点星光交相辉映，构成一幅壮丽的山城夜景图。这里是拍摄重庆夜景日出和日落的最佳地点选择。
